Public Service Announcement

O.K., a note for anyone who uses PayPal...

PayPal will never send you an e-mail addressed "Dear PayPal User." They'll always use your name.

I got a phoney e-mail today, a fraud letter telling me that I had to "confirm" my Pay Pal information to clear up some suspect activity.

These guys don't ask you to confirm your credit card info...why would they need to do that? They have all that in their database. If anything is suspicious they'll contact you and ask about a specific charge - "Did you buy 10,000 plastic Mountie statues on May 27th, 2004?"

Rule #1 of surfing the internet - never give out credit card info in response to an e-mail.

This concludes the public service announcement.
