Public television can be very weird. I just finished watching a program in which a buck-toothed nun with an Elmer Fudd voice wanders about art galleries, mis-describing paintings to fit her own notions of morality. "Wubens paints the Venus Fwigid to show that wove is an outwawrd act of kindness and chawity. You see Bacchus coming to hewp hewr. One wondewrs why she doesn't wap hewr cwoak awound hewrsewf!"  Does she not see the look on Bacchus' face? It's not out of Christian charity that he's bringing a cup of spiced wine to warm her! And the word frigid does have multiple meanings... Ah, the charm of nuns. |
