Air show...so loud. Jets scream directly overhead, which is unnerving enough. Imagine how awful if you knew they were armed and targeting your city.

Speaking of bombs, there's a strike happening at the CBC. They're having difficulty negotiating a contract with the union that covers a huge number of their employees. For the viewer this means less new programming, very little news coverage and loads of movies.

Sweet.

Of course a lot hinges on who picks the movies, and yesterday we were treated to the odd combination of Splash and Gangs of New York. I guess they're both set in NYC...

I've also been enjoying the reruns of The Red Green Show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Rick Mercer's Monday Report. But the best part of the CBC strike is the news. Rather than CBC news (which is already a step up from the American networks) we're getting BBC World News. It's like someone stole the TV and replaced it with a magic machine that actually presents intelligent reporting and commentary. Weird.

As far as Amy and I are concerned, this strike is the best thing to happen to the CBC in a long time!

Now if only the air show pilots would go on strike...
