I'm writing a sermon while watching The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This is going to be one weird sermon. It's for a class, rather than to deliver...though if I like it I'll keep it to use later. It's a sermon for Trinity Sunday, the day every preacher dreads. How do you describe, or even discuss, the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity in fifteen minutes or less? None of St. Patrick's shamrock nonsense...that won't hold up to serious theological prodding. I wonder how I can work Gandalf into this... |
