Remembrance Day
November 11, 2005 - 2:47 p.m.

next

Today we stop to recall the men and women who died in combat for their nation. We may disagree mightily over the rationale or justification for war, and I hope we all pray for a time when war is a distant memory. But that does nothing to belittle or question the valour and courage of the soldiers who gave their lives. They faced the horror of the battlefield, from Flanders fields to Kabul, fighting for us.

God bless all those who serve, keep the souls of all departed soldiers, and guide us that war might become a thing of remembrance only.

Notice the little badge to the left, above "What I'm Reading." (By the way, I'm reading a lot of other things, but that history text is a constant this term and anyhow I'm too busy to keep changing it.) I've been nominated, at least in the first round, for Best Religious Blog. Watch this space for voting info, eh? If you like what you read, tell your friends; if you don't, keep your big mouth shut.
