I went to see Amy's show last night. Well, strictly speaking, it's not hers. Hank Williams Well, she's the stage manager, so it's as much hers as anyone's, but she shares it with some other people.

Anyhow, it's a lot of fun - Lovesick Production's Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave, at the Victory Cafe.

Hank Williams died in 1952, somewhat mysteriously, on his way to a New Year's Eve concert. The conceit of this play is that it's the concert he would have given if he'd lived. Not only is the music a joy and the acting quite good, the story is intriguing. Is Hank dead? Is this the afterlife? If so, does he know it? Does the band? The band is great, the set (what little there is) evokes the era and the sound design recreates the tinny sound of 1950's recording.

And, of course, the stage management is superb!

The experience is only improved by the fact that you can order drinks and food at the bar and eat it while watching the show...like dinner theatre, but not. I had the chicken strips and Buffalo Chips.

Mmmmm...chicken and Buffalo Chips...mmmmm.

Perhaps I ought to have higher standards in life; a plate of spiced fries and chicken strips makes the day for me. Give me some fun music and pub food and I'm a happy man.
