The Beauty (and Deliciousness) of Creation

Ah, blessed peace. Things are finally calming down. The first few weeks were jammed with "back to school" meetings, but now life is settling into a steady rhythm. Still lots of meetings and whatnot, but my calendar no longer looks like a network broadcast schedule, something on every hour or half hour.

Amy and I went to the Toronto Zoo for Thanksgiving (which was Monday, in case my Yankee readers aren't monitoring Canadian holidays). Visiting the zoo may not be a traditional Thanksgiving activity, but it does make sense for a Christian couple...appreciation for creation is part of the day, and there are few places in Toronto better suited for appreciating the amazing diversity of our world.

It was a particularly good zoo day, as the animals were actually up and about. Usually zoo trips are all about, "There's a sleeping tiger. And a sleeping hyena. And there's an elephant just standing there. Oh! Look! The giraffe is chewing!" But on Monday almost everyone was running and climbing and, in he case of the Przewalski's Horses, fighting. The animals were all showing off, and several times I was stuck by the amazing beauty and diversity of God's creatures.

We also appreciated the amazing taste of one of God's creatures, the common turkey, along with potatoes and squash and stuffing and corn and broccoli and carrots. Indeed, God made all things well...and then Amy cooked them to perfection. It was delicious, so of course I ate way more than I ought to have. Oh, well. Diets are for January, and one mustn't be mean when celebrating the glory of (urp) creation.

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures succulent and tasty.
