The Common Mind?

Today I attended a meeting of the heads/presidents of the TST schools. The TST, in case you're not familiar, is composed of Trinity and Wycliffe (Anglican), Emmanuel (United Church of Canada), Knox (Presbyterian), St, Michaels and Regis and St. Augustine (Roman Catholic). I proposed an event for the whole TST, a sort of Council of Toronto.

The idea is to pretend that Christ has returned, taken a look at the church, and told us to shape up. The TST and affiliated schools are given one day to figure out how we, as the church, will handle such-and-such a theological concept - say the Eucharist. How do we understand it, how often do we take it, who can partake of it. At the end of the day we'd formulate a statement on as many points as we feel valid. Then we'd hear a lecture from someone who has worked on this issue in the "real world" of ecumenism.

The idea was warmly received...after we spent fifteen minutes discussing what to call this gathering of heads/presidents and just what the word "ecumenism" means.

I'm not sure we're going to get anywhere on the Eucharist.
